Jan 4, 2024 | Newsletter

Hello neighbors!

At around noon today (January 4, 2023), I noticed an update to the Ann Arbor City Council Calendar on Legistar. A special session of City Council has been posted, to take place tomorrow:

City Council Special Session
Friday, January 5, 2023  12:00 (noon)
Council Chambers (City Hall, 2nd floor)

This is the Legistar link for the meeting:

The agenda includes only one item: changes to the Council Calendar. The Monday, January 8th Council meeting will be rescheduled to Thursday, January 11th. Presumably, the meeting is rescheduled due to the UM participation in the college football championship game. That sporting event is not mentioned in the resolution.

Note that open public comment will be available at tomorrow’s meeting. Special sessions are not subject to the requirement (added in 2022) that all public commenters pre-register. According to the agenda posted on Legistar, the meeting will be broadcast on CTN, and commenters can call in via Zoom.

The agenda for next week’s meeting appears to be incomplete, so I will delay my usual weekend newsletter until more items are added.

The entirety of the resolution is below:

Learn about Ann Arbor City Council subsidizing private development with brownfield funds, waiving requirements for affordable housing, ignoring the A2Zero plan, and approving dozens of gas-fueled apartments (all in 2023!).
