Maywood Ave Construction Update July 12th

Jul 13, 2019 | Construction

The following update was emailed on July 12, 2019 by Tesha Humphriss, Project Manager for the City of Ann Arbor. For any questions or concerns with this project (or to be added to her email list of construction updates), she can be contacted at 734-794-6410 ext. 43672, or at thumphriss@a2gov.org

The new water main tie in was successfully completed at Maywood and Stadium on Monday of this week, and we began individual house water service transfers, which will continue through early next week.  For those of you still to be transferred:

When the water is turned back on, please run cold water from your outside spigot for a few minutes to release any iron deposits stirred up during the transfer.  If after the transfer, you notice a lack of water pressure, please call customer service (734-794-6320) to schedule the meter shop to inspect your meter screen.  They sometimes get clogged by the minerals released by the old water main when the transfer occurs.

The remaining utility work on this project consists of finishing the individual water service transfers, finishing the storm sewer work on Maywood, and completing the final tie ins of the new water main to the existing along Avondale.  The water main will be connected to the existing water main at Avondale and Maywood and at Avondale and Mershon.  The looped water main provides increased pressure and reliability.  These connections of the water main along Avondale will require another localized shut down of the water main.  If this planned water main shut down impacts your house there will be an orange door knocker left on your door.

Douglas N. Higgins is starting to plan for the road base work, and as of now we are still on schedule for an August paving date.
