The following update was emailed on June 28, 2019 by Tesha Humphriss, Project Manager for the City of Ann Arbor. For any questions or concerns with this project (or to be added to her email list of construction updates), she can be contacted at 734-794-6410 ext. 43672, or at thumphriss@a2gov.org
To date, Douglas N. Higgins has completed the following utility items on this project:
- Installation of approximately 1,300 linear feet of water main
- Successful testing of all water main
- Repairs to the existing storm sewer system, including fixing the pipe in 4 locations where it was broken and the installation of new storm sewer structures on the existing pipe
- Installation of approximately 300 linear feet of new storm sewer
As discussed in last week’s email update, the water main tie in was delayed due to a failed pressure test and the time required to rectify that. Due to this, and the fact that the contractor plans to work a short week next week (Monday – Wednesday), we have decided to delay the water main tie in and service transfers to the week of July 8th. I will provide more information on the needed water main shut downs for this work in next week’s update.
Next week (July 1-3) the contractor plans to continue storm sewer installation along Maywood. In response to my May 17th letter (sent via US mail) a handful of homes along Maywood have requested installation of a storm sewer lead for future connection of your sump pump discharge to the municipal storm sewer system. Please be aware that these leads will be installed after all of the mainline storm sewer is installed.
It should be noted that we are still on schedule for an August paving date; although the water main tie in has been delayed, the contractor started earlier than planned on the new storm sewer (originally planned to start July 9th), so overall we are still slightly ahead of schedule.
