Resurfacing on South Division (Sept 12th – 13th)

Sep 11, 2019 | Construction

On Thursday and Friday, September 12 and 13, 2019 (weather-permitting), the City’s Street Resurfacing Project will be performing short-term resurfacing work on South Division Street between East Hoover Avenue and East Madison Street.

Construction activities involve partial depth removal of the upper two inches of the existing pavement surface and replacing it with new asphalt pavement. The contractor plans to complete the pavement removal work on Thursday and pave back the new asphalt on Friday.

In addition to the above activities, the contractor will place new pavement markings that include a continuous bike lane along the east side of the street within the above described limits. On the segment between East Hoover Avenue and Hill Street, the existing parking along the east side of Division will be relocated to the west side in order to accommodate the new bike lane. This change will also create several new parking spaces. On the segment north of Hill Street to just south East Madison Street, the existing parking on both sides of the street will be maintained with a buffer being added on the east side to separate the parking from the new bike lane.

During the work, traffic will be maintained in the northbound direction on Division.  Southbound traffic on the block between Hill and Hoover will be detoured.  Considering the relatively light traffic volume on southbound Division, and the short term nature of this work, we anticipate the impacts will be minimal.
